Description
2004 - plaster of ParisThis is a 60cm (23.6" ) tall sculpture I made modelling some clay, then having (lots of) plaster moulds of it, and casting it with plaster (yeah, same stuff for moulds and statue... and rigid. It's been a real mess to get it done, now I would look for other materials).
I called her Dolcemuta, which you can translate "Sweetmute" or something like that. Don't know where this name came from. It simply happened that when I was making her, she started being Dolcemuta in my mind.
There isn't a precise origin for this piece. I just took some clay and started modelling her out of my mind.
Originally, she had to be a sort of albino, standing in the middle between being a sculpture and being a very pale creature. Then I felt that she was a statue *becoming* a creature.
I painted her all white, but the mouth and her eyes.
The mouth is very pale, but someway realistic.
The eyes should have been normal albino's eyes, but then I just put some red on their whole surface, and looking at her, well, I realized that those were her eyes. All red, with some smudges on the edge.
In order to get all more effective, I pur some glossy varnish on her teeth and eyes.

You should also be congratulated on getting a plaster from a plaster mould...I know how difficult that can be.
It';s also nice to see more sculpture here...i hope it's a trend that will continue.
